Welcome to Bayness Farm Campsite: Robin Hood’s Bay

Experience the best of the Yorkshire Coast at Bayness Farm. Perched on the northwest side of Robin Hood’s Bay, our campsite sits high on the hillside, offering breathtaking panoramic sea views across the water to Ravenscar. We provide a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere for tents, caravans, and motorhomes.


Prime Location and Stunning Views

Located just above the village, Bayness Farm is perfectly situated for exploring North Yorkshire.

  • Robin Hood’s Bay: A picturesque 30-minute walk via the farm’s access track or a few minutes by car.
  • Whitby: Only 4 miles away (a 10-minute drive), offering a busy port, golden sands, boat trips, and extensive shopping.
  • The Cinder Track: This famous former railway footpath is located just below the site, providing a scenic route for walkers and cyclists heading toward the Bay or Whitby.
  • Coastal Routes: Easy access to the Cleveland Way and Coast to Coast trails.

Accommodation and Pitches

We offer dedicated areas for various types of campers, located to the left of the farm buildings to ensure the best coastal views.

  • Tents and Small Campers: Standard pitches are 5m x 5m (including guy ropes).
  • Caravans and Motorhomes: Specialized pitches available with excellent site access.
  • Electric Hook-ups: Available for motorhomes, caravans, and campervans only. These must be pre-booked as they are subject to availability. Note: We do not offer electric for tents or trailer tents.

On-Site Facilities

Our site is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay:

  • Shower and Toilet Blocks: Clean facilities provided free of charge to all guests.
  • Pot Washing: Dedicated area for cleaning dishes.
  • Freezer Facilities: Located near the pot washing area for guest use.
  • Waste Management: Elsan point for chemical waste and comprehensive recycling for glass, metal, paper/cardboard, and plastics.
  • Information: Visit “Campsite Reception” for tourist information and guides to the local area.
  • Please note: There are no washing machine facilities on-site.

Booking and Prices

As we have limited capacity, advance booking is essential.

  • Requirements: Bookings must be made at least 24 hours before arrival. We operate a pre-payment only policy and cannot accept walk-ins.
  • Stay Duration: A minimum stay of 2 nights is required (3 nights during Bank Holiday periods).
  • Pricing: Charges are calculated per person, per night. Additional fees apply for dogs, extra people (including babies/toddlers), and electric hook-ups.
  • Groups: We do not accept groups or group bookings.

Campsite Guidelines

To maintain our relaxed atmosphere, we ask guests to follow these simple rules:

  • Dogs: Welcome if pre-booked. They must be kept on a lead at all times (additional nightly charge applies).
  • Fire Policy: Raised fire pits and disposable BBQs are permitted. Fires on the ground are strictly prohibited. Please bring your own wood.
  • Windbreaks: Permitted free of charge, provided they do not block views or access for other guests.
  • Arrival: Follow signs to “Campsite Reception” to register and receive your pitch location before setting up.

Directions and Local Amenities

  • Getting Here: Located off the B1447, accessible via the A171 (Scarborough to Whitby road). Detailed directions are provided upon booking.
  • Supplies: Sainsbury’s and a Co-op are located in Whitby. Local takeaways and family pubs are available in Robin Hood’s Bay (30-minute walk).
  • Banking: Nearest banks are in Whitby. Cash machines are available at the Robin Hood’s Bay Post Office or at supermarkets in Whitby.

Q Can I have a campfire or BBQ at my pitch?

Yes, but with restrictions to protect the grass. Disposable BBQs and raised fire pits are allowed, provided they do not touch the ground. You must bring your own wood, as it is not supplied on-site.

Q Is electric hook-up available for all guests?

No. Electric hook-ups are available strictly for motorhomes, caravans, and campervans. We do not offer electric for tents or trailer tents. Hook-ups must be pre-booked and are subject to availability.

Q What is the minimum stay and booking policy?
