Always on the lookout for a quiet corner of Cornwall in which to lay your head? One that’s close to beaches, fishing villages and woodland walks as well? Peaceful Gunwalloe Caravan Park may suit you very well, set as it is on a working arable farm less than 5 minutes’ drive from Gunwalloe Church Cove Beach and forest trails at National Trust-owned Penrose.

With easy access to tree-sheltered grass pitches along hardstanding tracks, owned and run by a family for families. Pets are welcome to tag along too, and there’s plenty of dog walking to be had along forested trails and shingle banks around The Loe freshwater lake and Carminowe Creek (5 minutes’ drive).

Head to Gunwalloe village for a night out in the well-known Halzephron Inn (five minutes’ drive or half an hour’s walk), or try out waterfront pubs and takeaways around the fishing harbour in Porthleven (15 minutes’ drive). If you’re running short on provisions, historic Helston (10 minutes) has supermarkets for stocking up as well as pasty shops, pizzerias and burger bars if you’d like to give cooking a miss.
