Thacka Lea Caravan Park in Penrith, Cumbria, is a family-run site with over 50 years of experience in providing a friendly, quiet atmosphere for travelers. Perfectly positioned at the north end of Penrith, it serves as an ideal base for exploring the breathtaking landscapes of the Lake District and the charming Eden Valley.


2026 Opening Dates & Times

  • Season: Friday, 27th March – Mid-November 2026.

  • Arrival: From 1:00 PM.

  • Departure: By 11:30 AM.

Pitch Information & Site Layout

The park features 25 pitches suitable for touring caravans, motorhomes, and campervans.

  • Options: Choice of hardstanding or grass pitches, all equipped with electric hook-ups.

  • Layout: The site is arranged over three tiers, with easy access from all levels to the central facilities.

  • Note: Thacka Lea does not offer seasonal pitches.

Arrival is from 1:00 PM, and we ask that guests depart by 11:30 AM on their final day.

Q Are dogs welcome at the site?

Yes, we are a pet-friendly site! Dogs are welcome for a small fee of £1 per stay. There is also a nature reserve located within 300m of the park which is excellent for dog walks.

Q How far is the park from Penrith town centre?

We are conveniently located at the north end of town, just a 10-minute walk from the shops, restaurants, and historic attractions of Penrith.

Q What facilities are available on-site?

The park features a toilet and shower block (showers are 50p), a washing-up area, waste disposal, and recycling bins. We also offer WiFi provided by Camping Connect and electric hook-ups for all pitches.

Q Do you have a minimum stay policy?

While we allow one-night stays during the week (at a rate of £27), there is a minimum 3-night stay requirement for bank holiday weekends.
